About Monika
It’s nice to meet you! I’m glad you’re here.
My name is Monika. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, lived and worked (and played) in the Lake Tahoe Basin for 10+ years before moving to Munich in Bavaria in southern Germany in 2011. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, a Master of Science in Sports and Exercise Nutrition, and a diploma (PGDip) in Nutrition and Performance Nutrition. I was (still am) a teacher for more than (gulp!) 20 years, and though I don’t teach full time anymore, I would like to think I still educate and teach those with whom I work.
My passions are overall health, balance, and playing with food. When I’m not working with clients, out on my road bike or cross country skis, or finding the next delicious coffee, you can find me in the kitchen tinkering and redesigning seasonal recipes that work for my clients, taste great, and are simple and easy to follow. I also balance food plates all over the house to capture the perfect photograph in the ideal light. Recently, I was awarded “Best Recovery Recipe” at the Inaugural Sports Nutrition Conference in 2018 hosted by Barça Innovation Hub in Barcelona, Spain.
I work with individuals looking to improve their nutrition habits for increased performance, support recovery from surgery or injury, or address specific issues surrounding overall health and digestion. I have run various workshops on general nutrition needs, digestive health, thyroid health, sport nutrition basics, and have worked as part of a consulting team in foodservice.
I enjoy getting my hands dirty with you in the kitchen, finding the best seasonal ingredients at a local farmer’s market, and creating foods that can be enjoyed and savored, all while moving you to a state of better health. I work both in-person and remotely via Zoom/FT (etc.)
If you check out and try any of my recipes, I’m always happy to receive feedback. It’s important to remember that measuring amounts (cups, etc.), altitude (all of the recipes were created at 500m/1500ft), oven temperatures, egg sizes, etc. are different worldwide. These all can affect the outcome of a recipe. I purposely don’t measure in salt and pepper as I find everyone should first taste their food before seasoning it.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you and supporting you reach your potential.
