Days are longer…

Summer light, summer temperatures and even though it is still technically spring I have been gathering up as much outside time as possible. Just back from a great one-day functional sports nutrition conference in London yesterday. So much information in a very short period of time. Lots to digest (no pun intended) and information to get through – as well as make connections and share information. One thing that came through loud and clear is that foundations of solid nutrition are important for everyone – not just athletes. Ensuring you are getting your daily macronutrients in the form of carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein is essential for your body. Your body works really hard to ensure that the nutrition you provide gets turned into the energy you need to function and keeps everything in balance. If you are not providing your body with these essentials then there will be an imbalance in the system that can occur that could make itself noticeable in different ways.

There was a slide that one presenter started his talk with, it read: “Same old thinking – same old results” One can also connect this with nutrition – if you aren’t actively making changes in your diet or lifestyle you will not see any changes (or even if you make a change for a few days every once in a while but then revert to your old habits). Remember, when you make the changes it will take time to see the results. Be patient but make sure you start …
